Ambassador Elisabeth Kornfeind has served as Director General for Europe and Economy since September 2023. She has held prominent roles in Austria’s foreign service, including Ambassador to Belgium and NATO, Director of EU Coordination, and leadership of the Task Force for the Austrian EU Presidency (2018). Her experience spans European integration, economic diplomacy, and international cultural relations, with key postings in Brussels, Budapest, London, and New York. She holds a Doctorate of Law from the University of Vienna.
